If escapism is required, then Reservoir Cottage will not disappoint. Nestled in the Cornish countryside, only a mile away from the bustling harbour of St Ives and its many sandy beaches, this home in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, now known as a National Landscape, offers guests not only privacy, but also views of rolling hills and ancient settlements.

This home-from-home has been lovingly restored by its creative owner with subtle interior flair complementing its Art Nouveau charm. The luxurious retreat has two living areas, the cosy snug, an intimate space with warm lighting and an ornate ornamental fireplace being the focus of this sweet space. The large sun-room with its wraparound slate deck is a bright, airy place with wall to ceiling glass that offers uninterrupted views of the countryside. The modern decor with plush sofas perfect for lounging and socialising. A quality crafted kitchen, so beautifully presented, features a huge range to delight any inspiring chef and there is a large larder cupboard in the hallway.

The dining-area is a social and cosy space, with its old Rayburn still in situ and has an espresso machine for coffee lovers. The walls are adorned with carefully selected artwork and if you look more closely there are two Cornish piskies so don't forget to pay your respects to the Cornish folklore as they offer good luck and goodwill. Many great holiday memories will be made around the dining-table whilst feasting on local produce.

The huge family bathroom is on this floor with claw-footed free-standing bath and separate 'rain style' power shower, making this a perfect place to relax and refresh after your day out and about.

Upstairs the cottage has three luxurious bedrooms, all dressed in sumptuous crisp linens and enjoying heavenly views of nature at its best. One with a king-size wrought iron four-poster bed and feature fireplace, a cosy beautifully decorated double room and a sweet smaller third bedroom with bunk-beds. A fully fitted wet-room cleverly designed to maximise space completes this floor.

Surrounded by lush green gardens full of wildflowers, bees and butterflies, the owners have created a feeling of space without boundaries. The outdoor seating area, complete with fire-pit, offers an intimate space to roast marshmallows with the ones you love, whilst soaking up the sunshine or sitting out late into the evening under the night sky. Enjoy meals al fresco whilst listening to the relaxing sounds of the trickling water coming from the nearby reservoir. A balcony leading from the spacious sun-room with modern loungers, is an idyllic space to take your morning coffee and plan the day's adventures.

Reservoir Cottage offers a perfect location for delightful walks with your dog on the waterside trails and lush countryside paths found right on the doorstep.

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Miss Skinner

We had a thoroughly good time in this lovely property: it’s beautifully done, very comfortable, spotlessly clean and very well equipped for any meals in. The conservatory is wonderfully light with relaxing sofas and great views of the surrounding countryside. It feels very private while you are there but the location means it is a quick and easy drive to St Ives and further afield.Recommend The Gannet in Carbis Bay for Sunday lunch and the much smaller Tinners Arms in Zennor for food and drink too.

Mr Booth

Peaceful location with nice aspect and sunset, safe for our dog to wander around the garden.Good access to both North coast and it’s lovely walks or to the South coast with it’s creeks and gardens.Far more to St.Ives than we were aware of with its main beaches but also Porthminster and Carbis bay with walks along the dunes to Lelant.

Mrs McBride

An exceptionally clean and truly delightful cottage with a spacious ground floor area. Wonderful lookout for those who prefer a quiet and remote location. Comfortable beds. A steep staircase which some may find difficult.

Mr Blance

As mentioned in other reviews the Reservoir Cottage certainly has the WOW factor. All is to a very high standard, it feels homely and comfortable. The surrounding area, including “The Hill” and reservoir give it an idyllic feeling. Sunday lunch in the pub is a must!!! We have been holidaying in Cornwall since 2016 (we live in Holland) and this is by far the best accommodation we’ve had the privilege to stay in. We would certainly recommend the Reservoir Cottage to anybody thinking of staying in the St. Ives. The Blance Family.

Mr Defty

Quite well located, very comfortable, very roomy and very well equipped - I would recommend a stay to anyone.

Miss Mansell

The positives about Reservoir Cottage are the beautiful views and the birds singing all day long. The sunsets are absolutely extraordinary. The walks around the area are amazing, there is lots to explore. Access to the cottage is easy and there is adequate parking. The garden is pretty, there are areas to sit outside and enjoy the view. There are many other areas further afield to explore. Certainly recommend Porthmeor beach at St Ives. It is pure bliss. We went out every day to different places and were very blessed with beautiful weather. The reservoir is lovely to walk around, right on the doorstep. Lots of swallows. The not positives about Reservoir Cottage are several and one is the actual reservoir. It is a public place, not private. This means that people pay to fish there and stay overnight. So you don’t receive the solitude you may expect and they may walk past the house and stare in. Some may make a noise too at the reservoir. The sunroom; this room has no windows that open. The only ventilation is if you open the doors. This might work if you are a couple staying. This may not work if you have kids or a dog to keep an eye on as the balcony (and the garden) are not enclosed. And in the height of Summer, I doubt even the doors open would provide sufficient air, it will be too hot in there. It reached 28 degrees when we were there in that room and we could not be in it. It is like a greenhouse. There are no blinds either, so if you wish to watch something on the TV, you simply can’t, until the sun goes down. From our point of view, it is the best and worst room of the house. By contrast, the snug is much cooler but if you still get too hot, a further problem is that the windows have been bolted shut (for security reasons?) The windows are bolted shut in the dining area too. The kitchen is very small. The kettle is difficult to operate without burning yourself (if you have just boiled it). The toaster should come with a Phd qualification attached. And as it is meant to be self catering, there is nowhere to store any food you may have bought. You have to just put it on the counters. There are no cupboards for it or a pantry. The bedrooms are small. This cottage is not big enough (in our view) to accommodate two couples and kids. Partly due to what has already been said in this review but also the bathrooms. The large bathroom downstairs is great, until you try and use the shower cubicle. If you are tall or if you are a larger person, you will crash around, banging the sides and may not even fit in there. I am a very small person and struggled to use it. The bathroom upstairs is tiny. So much so you can’t use the toilet easily and if you do use the shower in there, you can’t dry yourself in the bathroom, as there isn’t enough room to do so. There is a beautiful black pheasant that lives on cottage grounds that makes itself known to you every morning.

Mrs Lipinski

If you planned to book this cottage be prepared to be blown away. From the minute you arrive, peace, once inside, you will find the most tranquil, beautifully decorated cottage with an unbelievable sun room. You will definitely will not be disappointed.

Miss Acheson

Well, what can I say about Reservoir Cottage?? - I will start with just WOW!! This place is honestly the most picturesque and beautifully decorated cottage that we have probably ever stayed in. So tastefully done and with so much attention to detail. For me though, it is really ALL about that conservatory and the 'stunning' terrace which it leads out on to!! Breathtaking. You could almost be in Hawaii?? Surrounded by all of that lush, subtropical greenery! And the air all around you smells like fresh garden flowers and wet grass. It's like a tonic for your soul, standing in that garden. We saw some stunning sunsets aswell. So to conclude my review, I would most highly recommend Reservoir Cottage! The pictures on the website are lovely, but nothing compares to seeing that conservatory and terrace in real life. Everything in the house was so spotlessly clean aswell! They obviously have an excellent cleaner. We cannot wait to book up again for next summer! We have had the most wonderful holiday xx

Miss Childs

Beautiful place to stay, very near to St Ives with lots of things to do nearby. The cottages is very homely and we were greeted by a lovely welcome pack.
