This spacious cottage and sprawling gardens make Northleigh Barn the perfect choice if you are wishing to retire from the hustle and bustle of everyday life - just for a short time at least.

Whether it's enjoying a romantic break or a holiday away with friends or family, this super cottage with two en suite bedrooms provides the ideal set-up, especially as your four-legged friends are also welcome.

On entering the cottage, you are welcomed into the attractive hallway, which leads into the spacious open plan kitchen/diner. This is such a great communal space for cooking, dining or just relaxing in general, especially as you can step out of the kitchen directly onto your patio-area - a great spot for enjoying a few nibbles whilst you watch the sun go down. Of an evening, the large sitting-room, which also opens out to the garden area, is a lovely space to retreat to. Whether it be popping outside to soak up the final rays of sun whilst enjoying the blissful surrounding countryside, or closing the patio doors and relaxing in front of the TV, either makes for the perfect way to end the day.

When it comes to retiring for the evening, upstairs you have two beautiful bedrooms to choose from, both offering large en suites. Bedroom one is home to a stunning super-king size bed and treats you to the most fabulous garden views to wake up to. Bedroom two is a charming twin room, again, offering oodles of space and its own en suite shower-room.

This charming cottage is located on the Two Moors Way with far reaching countryside views across Devon and Exmoor in the distance. Whether it be waking up to these views or enjoying your morning coffee to the sound of the energic bird song on the patio, your beautiful surroundings will not disappoint.

Mrs Smith

We enjoyed our stay at Northleigh Barn, it is a very comfortable holiday home, extremely peaceful and tucked away in the back lanes, in a quiet location with public footpaths very close by. The super king bed is beyond comfortable and the bath and shower rooms, excellent. The decor is much like a small country house, lots of smart portraits, classic prints and lovely choice of fabrics and paint colours. Sofas and chairs all very comfortable and lovely rugs throughout. The garden space is great, just right for dogs to have room to run around a bit and a lovely patio area for drinks/nibbles/alfresco dining, listening to the bird song.
The dishwasher was a lovely surprise (not mentioned on the description). Beautiful crockery and glasses and good basic equipment for cooking meals, another larger roasting tray would be useful and perhaps a second chopping board. But arrive with some basics such as milk, bread and butter etc. the nearest shop shuts early.
We can highly recommend The London Inn, in Morchard Bishop, excellent food at reasonable prices, but beware, the portions are very large! It gets busy too, so book ahead if you can. The shop in the same village is also very well stocked and handy for any essential items.
We also visited the Farm Shop on the edge of Nomansland, West Middlewick Farm, their own excellent meat (mostly frozen though, so plan ahead), milk straight from the cow, plus cakes, bread, veg and lots of other goodies. The breakfast in the onsite Hay Loft Cafe also highly recommended.
