If a stunning conversion bursting with original features situated in a sleepy Somerset village sounds attractive then The Smithy is the place for you. Situated in close proximity to the magical Avalon Marshes and quirky town of Glastonbury, this beautiful cottage is a special retreat for your holiday.

Stepping through the front door, you will find yourself in an open plan space that is bright and inviting, effortlessly blending original features with every mod-con you could need. The kitchen is stylishly designed and excellently equipped leaving the chef of the group wanting for nothing more. A cleverly designed dining-table and chairs are tucked into a cosy corner offering the perfect spot to sit back and enjoy each other's company.

A fun element of this gorgeous retreat is the Chilli Penguin wood-burning stove that has a small oven at the top of it - why not bake a fresh loaf of bread or casserole? An experience to remember! The living area offers plenty of space to kick back and relax and when the weather is on-side, open up the patio doors and let the sun stream in.

Just off the open plan living space is the first bedroom with a super-comfy king-size bed and doors out to the private patio area. Directly from this bedroom, there is a staircase leading up to the en suite bathroom where you can soak tired legs after walking in the countryside. The second bedroom is accessed via a spiral staircase from the living area and it is a characterful room with twin beds, perfect for children and adults alike. This bedroom has its own en suite shower-room too so no queues in the morning.

Outside you have access to a private patio that is a tranquil spot for star gazing and taking a moment to savour a chilled glass of bubbly. Beyond your private patio area, there is access to a lawned garden with two seating areas that boast views across the countryside, right to Glastonbury Tor. This area is shared with the guests at Minstrels (4930) but with plenty of space, there is room for all to enjoy. The Smithy also has secure, off-road parking for two cars and a shared utility-room that has a washing machine and tumble-drier, for which the owners operate an honesty-box.

For groups of up to eight guests, booking The Smithy and Minstrels together offers the best of both worlds; a shared outside area to enjoy whilst having separate space to retreat to.

Mr Cole

The Smithy is a wonderful cottage, beautifully designed, very comfortable and located in a peaceful, countryside setting. The hosts were extremely generous with the welcome pack, which was delicious and much appreciated. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Mr Connors

We had a lovely 4 night stay at The Smithy Cottage. The plot where the property is located is lovely, the garden is a credit to the owners. We would have definitely spent more time in there if the weather was better. The cottage was outstanding, so well done and such a great vacation space, lots of different areas to sit. Fire was superb and warmed the open plan space really well, there was even underfloor heating. The welcome gifts were plentiful and probably the best you could ever expect, there was even an Easter Egg hidden in a little cupboard for my Son, very thoughtful and appreciated. The hosts were lovely and very friendly. This place truly has everything you could need and more thanks again for our lovely stay. Apologies for the left bag outside, it had ash from the fire in it and wasn't sure where to put it and unsure if it could still be hot from the night before. Thanks again, Krys.

Mrs Jewison

What a great place to stay, a proper hidden gem in a peaceful little village. Beautiful property with quality fixtures and fittings, everything provided right down to tea and coffee. The friendly owners had left us a few extra treats too including delicious homemade cake, biscuits, eggs, butter and jam (to name a few)! The Smithy has its own private outdoor space but the owners have a wonderful garden, which you have the freedom to use and is a lovely peaceful haven with wide reaching views of the countryside and of Glastonbury Tor. Conveniently situated for exploring this part of Somerset. We intend to visit again in the near future. Highly recommended !
