Mr Routley
It is not often that the reality of a holiday cottage outshines the online photos, but we found that both the converted barns (Weighbridge End and Stable End) we rented for our long weekend in Wiltshire delivered everything as expected, and more besides.
It was a wonderful stay and we especially appreciated the harmonious design and furnishings of both properties. The internal adjoining door was opened for our stay, allowing each family their own space. We stayed in one property and our son, his wife and two young babies stayed in the other.
Everything in each barn was so well thought through, from the generous welcome basket, the fully functional kitchen, purposeful furnishings, comfortable bedding, proper showers and outdoor garden furniture. Most of all we appreciated the clutter-free design and open linear space. The well-tended garden was planted with fragrant herbs and lavender plants, attracting many bees and insects.
There was extreme thoughtfulness also throughout the cottages. Free-standing fans were installed in each property, a welcome relief in this July heatwave. The entire floor space is on one level in Weighbridge End, but in Stable End there is one step down leading from the bedroom corridor to the living room/ kitchen. Contrary to all the other furnishings which have a neutral tone, the floor mat at the bottom of this one short step was striped and multi-coloured, thus immediately drawing your attention to the difference in floor level.
The kitchen was very well equipped and each barn had enough plates, glasses and cutlery for six settings. This meant we could have dinner in our barn for the four of us throughout the stay.
There are many things to do and places to visit in the area surrounding Grittleton (and a local pub - the Neeld Arms - on your doorstep). We had an excellent time exploring nearly Historic Houses and National Trust properties. There are farm shops nearby. The folder with local information was very well presented and useful. An OS map of the area is available so you can mark out places you want to visit/ walk to.
Special mention to the cleaning company as the property was spotless when we arrived. We booked through Classic Cottages which handled all our enquiries promptly and efficiently. Thank you especially to the owners of the barns as it must be their direction and thoughtfulness that has meant a great stay for anyone renting. A Visitor Book in the house is a testament to the enjoyment others have experienced when staying here - some for two weeks! - travellers from Europe and the US seeing a most lovely part of England.
Mrs De Mari
How we enjoyed this lovely cottage! Everything was perfect, the modern comfort, the location in the beautiful Cotswolds. And not to mention the cozy pub. The welcome was wonderful and cozy with even fresh flowers! We enjoyed it.
Mrs Van Leeuwen
We loved our stay at Weighbridge end. Location in beautiful Grittleton was perfect and parking easy. The cottage was light and modern, perfectly and comfortly furnished. The welcoming basket was a very nice gesture. The owners were very friendly and helpful.
Mrs Walker
We loved our stay at weighbridge, the barn and village are just gorgeous! All the amenities we could have wished for and plenty of space for our baby and dog and super clean! Lovely welcome hamper for us and our dog! The village pub is welcoming and does great food! Great location for visiting Bath, Bristol and the Cotswolds! We have already recommended it and we will definitely be back! Thank you for a lovely stay!
Mr Keith
The barn has been converted to a high standard with quality fittings and is conveniently located in Grittleton.
There is be a pub nearby but there are no shops in this peaceful hamlet in the countryside. The properties reflect the Cotswolds look
Mrs Mitchell
We had a lovely time at Weighbridge cottage. It’s very welcoming and spacious with its modern open plan kitchen, lounge and diner. Excellent quality furniture and furnishings. Decorated with flair, well equipped and spotlessly clean.
Hosts were very helpful indeed and our dog Phoebe was very happy to meet Hector their dog.
We enjoyed the local pub twice in our four day stay. Great menu and specials. We hadn’t realised that the garden/patio area is not right next to the door, but it made little difference.
Using three words: workroom.bonnet.capillary will help you find it easily.
We had a great time and would return. Thank you.
Mrs Haddington
Very nice modern spacious barn conversion ! Loved staying here and a stone throw away from the village pub .Grittleton is a pretty village has no village store but there are farm shops in the area . Easy to get to Bath , Lacock , Corsham and only 5 miles from Castle Combe. Great place for exploring south west Cotswold !

Mrs Simons
The cottage is highly recommended. The recently beautifully renovated barn is now a very comfortable cottage, located in a charming and quiet village, with a nice pub around the corner. It is a beautiful walking location and bases for trips!
